Typical Applications

 

Normal Duty
(open loop)

Suitable for most applications, current overload is set at 110% for 60s. Where motor rated current is less than the drive rated continuous current, higher overloads are achieved.

Heavy Duty
(open loop)

Suitable for more demanding applications, current overload is set at 150% for 60s. Where motor rated current is less than the drive rated continuous current, higher overloads ( 200% or greater) are achieved.

Heavy Duty
(closed loop,
servo)

Suitable for demanding applications where high dynamic shaft performance is necessary, current overload is set at 175% for 20s. Where motor rated current is less than the drive rated continuous current, higher overloads (200% or greater) are achieved.

Line reactors

Line reactors are particularly recommended for use with the following drive models when one of the above factors exists, or when the supply capacity exceeds 175kVA:

SP1201 SP1202 SP1203  SP1204
SP1401 SP1402 SP1403 SP1404

Model sizes 1405 and larger have an internal DC choke so they do not require AC line reactors except for cases of excessive phase unbalance or extreme supply conditions.
For three-phase drives, three individual reactors or a single three-phase reactor should be used. Each drive must have its own reactor (s).

Reactor current ratings
The current rating of the line reactors should be as follows:

Continuous current rating: 
Not less than the continuous input current rating of the drive

Repetitive peak current rating:
Not less than twice the continuous input current rating of the drive

Temperature, humidity and cooling method

Ambient temperature operating range:
0C to 50C (32F to 122F). Output current de-rating must
applied at ambient temperatures >40C (104F).

Minimum temperature at power-up: -15C (5F)
Cooling method: Forced convection
Maximum humidity: 95% non-condensing at 40C (104F)
Storage: -40C (104F) to +50C (122F)

Altitude

Altitude range: 0 to 3,000m (9,900 ft), subject to the following conditions:
1,000m to 3,000m (3,300 ft to 9,900 ft) above sea level: 
de-rate the maximum output current from the specified figure by 1% per 100m (330 ft) above 1,000m (3,300 ft)

For example at 3,000m (9,900ft) the output current of the drive would have to be de-rated by 20%.

Ingress protection

The Unidrive SP is rated to IP20 pollution degree 2 (dry, non-conductive contamination only). However, it is possible to configure the drive to achieve IP54 rating at the rear of the heatsink for through-panel mounting (some current derating is required).
In order to achieve the high IP rating at the rear of the heatsink with Unidrive SP size 1 and 2, it is necessary to seal a heatsink vent by fitting the IP54 insert as shown in Figure 3-18
Fitting of IP54 insert for size 1 on page 20. For strict compliance with IP54 rating the heatsink fan must be replaced with an IP54 rated fan. Contact the supplier of the drive for details. Fitting of the IP54 insert and/or IP54 rated fan requires output current de-rating to be applied

Accuracy and resolution

Speed:
The absolute frequency and speed accuracy depends on the accuracy of the crystal used with the drive microprocessor. The accuracy of the crystal is 100ppm, and so the absolute frequency/speed accuracy is 100ppm (0.01%) of the reference, when a preset speed is used. If an analog input is used the absolute accuracy is further limited by the absolute accuracy of the analog input. 

The following data applies to the drive only; it does not include the performance of the source of the control signals. 

Open loop resolution:
Preset frequency reference: 0.1Hz
Precision frequency reference: 0.001Hz

Closed loop resolution:
Preset speed reference: 0.1rpm
Precision speed reference: 0.001rpm
Analog input 1: 16bit plus sign
Analog input 2: 10bit plus sign

Current:
The resolution of the current feedback is 10bit plus sign. The accuracy of the current feedback is 5%.

Output frequency / speed range
Open-loop frequency range: 0 to 3,000Hz
Closed-loop speed range: 0 to 40,000rpm
Closed-loop frequency range: 0 to 1,250Hz

Unidrive SP - The Solutions Platform

The Unidrive SP provides application and system
designers with an incredibly flexible drive platform, which is easily modified by an extensive range of sophisticated
SM option modules that can be used singly or in combination for economical and space saving solutions.

SM option modules install easily into any of the three option slots, with no tools required. The I/O, feedback, memory, communication and application modules enable the Unidrive to provide an optimized solution regardless of the demands of the application.

A complete range of other accessories are available to simplify system integration and meet system design criteria.

Introduction
For installations where it is deemed necessary, Control Techniques provide a range of EMC filters. These have all been assessed for conformance with the EMC directive, by testing with the appropriate drives.

The EMC characteristics of the drive products make an important contribution to the compliance of end products and installations. All drive products have been subject to EMC testing in representative installations. EMC data sheets are available for all major drive products. These list the harmonized standards complied with and give recommended installation techniques and further information on EMC behavior in typical situations.
