Pacemaster 6

5-300 HP DC Drive

(This drive is no Longer available, A substitute is available Instead.)

  GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Pacemaster 6 power module is a three phase, full wave, AC to DC power converter for control of motor speed and torque. This power module is comprised of several assemblies which provide power conversion, electronic regulating circuitry and protective devices.

The Pacemaster 6 power module is a unidirectional nonregenerative unit, which can be used for reversing operation by the addition of conventional reversing components. It is offered as a chassis mounted version for users who desire to build their own custom drive system by the addition of magnetic control, logic and protective devices. For a complete packaged 6-pulse drive refer to data sheet DS-PP6.

The Pacemaster 6 is a high performance unit with conservatively rated power components. Pre-conditioned and tested logic semi-conductors, high frequency and transient voltage protection, adjustable current limit and solid state motor overload protection assist in providing reliability of the system and protection for driven equipment.

STANDARD FEATURES
In addition to those features commonly found in DC drive power modules, the following salient are standard in the Pacemaster 6:
  • AUTOMATIC PHASE-LOCKED LOOP SYNCHRONIZING CIRCUIT provides enhanced immunity to noise.
  • ISOLATED FEEDBACK - Armature voltage and current feedback signals are isolated from the AC power source.
  • DIRECT LINE OPERATION - No isolation transformer required
  • USER SELECTOR SWITCHES to provide a quick choice of:
-- Armature voltage or tachometer feedback
    -- AC or DC tachometer
-- Internal or external torque control
    -- Jog Accel/Decel rates
    -- 50 or 60 Hz operation
  • SEPARATE POTENTIOMETER BOARD allows replacement of main regulator board without user readjustment of:
    -- Acceleration
    -- Deceleration
    -- Minimum speed
    -- Maximum speed
    -- Jog speed
    -- Tach calibration
    -- IR compensation
    -- Current limit
    -- Current gain
    -- Speed compensation
    -- Speed gain

  • ARMATURE VOLTAGE OVERRIDE upon Tach loss.
  • PHASE SEQUENCE INSENSITIVITY allows operation irrespective of AC input phase connection order.
  • TEMPERATURE COMPENSATED REFERENCE.
  • NEMA POWER CODE C - Six SCR full wave power converter for smooth high efficiency operation.
  • SOLID STATE MOTOR OVERLOAD with inverse time function.
  • HEAT-SINK THERMOSTAT helps protect SCRs from over-temperature.
  • CONTROL CIRCUIT RELAYS help protect against automatic restart of equipment after return of interrupted AC incoming power.
  • CURRENT SURGE PROTECTION (di/dt) - Ferrite core inductors provided in the DC line to limit the effects of potentially damaging current surges.
  • VOLTAGE TRANSIENT PROTECTION (dv/dt) - Built-in surge suppressors and R-C network ("Snubber") for protection from momentary AC line and DC load transients.
  • MEMORY TYPE FAULT DETECTOR with LED INDICATORS to disable the drive and aid in diagnostics of:
    -- Motor overload
    -- Tachometer Overspeed
    -- Armature over-voltage
    -- Tachometer loss
    -- Instantaneous over-current
    -- Field excitation loss
    -- Heat sink over-temperature
    -- Phase loss/Low line
  • Operates without damage to components during line voltage drops of 25%, and while connected to badly "notched" or noisy AC power lines.
